Most Valuable Player Mvp Award For Nhl Playoffs

Conn Smythe Trophy Winners: NHL's Most Valuable Player in the Stanley Cup Playoffs

Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award for NHL Playoffs

The Conn Smythe Trophy, named after Conn Smythe, is awarded annually to the most valuable player (MVP) of his team during the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs. The trophy was first awarded in 1965 and has been awarded to some of the greatest players in NHL history, including Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Sidney Crosby.

McDavid Adds Conn Smythe to His Trophy Case

In 2023, Connor McDavid won his first Conn Smythe Trophy after leading the Edmonton Oilers to the Stanley Cup Final. McDavid had a dominant playoff performance, scoring 10 goals and adding 23 assists in 20 games. He joins a select group of players who have won the Conn Smythe Trophy as a member of the losing team in the Cup Final.

Five-Time Winners As Members of Losing Teams

Roger Crozier (1966 Detroit Red Wings), Glenn Hall (1968 St. Louis Blues), Ron Hextall (1987 Philadelphia Flyers), Patrick Roy (2002 Colorado Avalanche), and Joe Thornton (2016 San Jose Sharks) are the five players who have won the Conn Smythe Trophy as members of the losing team in the Cup Final.

McDavid's Conn Smythe Trophy is the latest individual trophy won by the superstar, who has also won the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP three times (2017, 2021, 2023). He is one of the most dominant players in the NHL today and is poised to continue to add to his impressive trophy collection.
